Porch

What better spot for a weekend brunch than Porch, where the laid-back summer vibesare plenty and the menu is complete with delicious dishes like Eggs benedict, Shakshuka or Steak and Eggs. And of course, no visit to this 17th Ave hot spot is complete without one of their feature cocktails – go the mimosa flight or their kimchi Caesar to spice things up.

The Coup

Known for its exceptional and locally sourced vegetarian fare, The Coup also serves a stellar brunch available from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. In addition to their long list of hot beverages such as Lavender matcha hot chocolate or Coconut chai latte, they also serve an eggs benedict – also available in a vegan version – a soft scramble and treehouse sandwich topped with harissa, cheese, vedge and eggs or a plant-based egg.

Maven

17th Ave is home to Calgary’s hottest new brunch joint, Maven – a homey spot featuring a globally-inspired menu and a plant and coffee shop in the back. Go for their signature item, the Kaya French toast, inspired by the head chef’s childhood in Singapore, or five varieties of eggs benedict. Comfort food items such as their spicy crab fried rice and Singapore-style pork Congee are also not to be missed.

Pigeonhole

Menu standouts at this highly-lauded 17th Ave spot include their croque madame, made with brioche, pickles, mortadella, cheddar cream and fried eggs; or the drool-worthy souffle pancakes, topped with brown sugar cream and orange syrup. They only serve brunch on Saturday and Sunday, so plan your week accordingly!

National

The only thing better than a weekend brunch at this Red Mile favourite is when you can eat it on their expansive patio, looking out onto 17th Ave over a spicy caesar and their famous ricotta pancakes. Craving something savoury? They’ve got a breakfast sandwich or ‘big breakfast’ complete with three eggs, mesquite bacon, sausage, hash and rye toast to fill you up. Not to mention their extensive list of Alberta beers to wash it all down.
