17th Ave was bustling all summer long with live music and events in Tomkins Park, dozens of amazing patios serving refreshing cocktails and tasty eats, and of course, the opening of several new businesses that will add new flare to this already vibrant and iconic community in Calgary. Here are five new businesses that opened this summer on 17th Ave, and if you haven’t checked them out yet, we would highly recommend doing so!
Gong Cha
There’s a new bubble tea shop in town located in the heart of 17th Ave and serving up specialty boba and bubble teas, milk teas, sparkling beverages and more. Scroll through their seemingly endless menu made up of hot and cold beverages and flavours ranging from matcha and coffee to peach, taro and honeydew. Plus, if you’re hungry, indulge in the ultimate cheese pull: their Korean rice hot dogs, available in flavours like beef and cheese, potato, mozza and more.

JusFruit Canada
This isn’t your average bubble tea shop. 17th Ave’s newest resident, JusFruit Canada distinguishes itself with unique menu items such as handcrafted tapioca mochi pearls, collagen protein bubble teas, their famous bubble waffles, and Jus beverages topped with cream foam, Alo vera and even Oreos! Don’t forget to check out their extensive snack menu with decadent items like crepe cakes, egg bomb sandwiches, chicken wings and more.

Drinks and Such
Drinks and Such is the perfect place for a vacation-like reprieve from Calgary’s impending winter months. This newly opened supper club channels the aesthetics of a beach house or a South American ocean front with fresh and modern décor, small plates made up of Mediterranean cuisine and tropical cocktails to wash it all down. This newly opened destination is open late and is often home to live entertainment.

The Mash
Has there ever been a better combination than beer and pizza? We think not. And luckily for us, 17th Ave is the new home to The Mash, an Alberta–born eatery that serves craft beer and pizza made from upcycled spent grain. If you’re curious about what spent grain is, The Mash is also owned by the team at Half Hitch Brewing, where they take the leftover grain from brewing beer and create a delicious and unique pizza dough. We love when our food is tasty and sustainable.
