40 Years of King of Donair
More than 40 years ago, Peter Gamoulakos opened King of Donair in Halifax with the intention of introducing Canadians to the flavours of his homeland, Greece. Unfortunately, the traditional gyro was not as well received as he hoped, so Peter went back to the drawing board to make some adjustments. The result: the revered and beloved combination of Donair meat paired with his sweet Donair sauce that people across Canada still eat today.
The Original Donair
Calgarians can now experience the original donair recipe on 17th Ave at King Of Donair’s first Calgary location. Of course, we recommend trying their “O.G” Donair, made with a fresh pita, onions, tomatoes, Donair meat and Donair sauce, but this menu is chalked full of other delicious menu items you won’t want to miss out on either.
Pizza, Poutine and More
In addition to their variety of donairs, you can also choose from their selection of pizzas made with classic toppings such as pepperoni, salami, mushrooms and green peppers, and of course, Donair toppings complete with donair meat, tomatoes, onions and their famous donair sauce. You can also indulge in their assortment of plates including classic poutine, donair poutine and a donair plate, made with fries and loaded up with all your favourite donair toppings.
