Watch the Calgary Flames

The Flames kicked off round two of their playoff run last night against cross-province rival, the Edmonton Oilers. This battle of Alberta will see these two teams duke it out over the next week to earn their chance to play in the Western Conference Finals, and maybe, the coveted Stanley Cup playoff game. It’s been more than 30 years since these two Alberta teams have seen each other in the playoffs, so it goes without saying that both Calgarians and Edmontonians alike are ecstatic to cheer on their respective teams. We know who we’re cheering for on 17th Ave, and we even have a few recommendations as to where you can catch a game!

Check Out a New Restaurant

There’s always something new popping up on the Red Mile, whether it’s a snazzy cocktail lounge or homey mom and pop style bakery. This month, 17th Ave saw the opening of not one, not two, but three new restaurants and cocktails bars on this iconic street. Nue Cocktail Bar caters to the ‘non-conformists’ with their assortment of bold and incentive cocktails alongside your go-to favourites. Moonlight Bar and Lounge gives off dance hall vibes with their regularly scheduled DJ performances, dance floor and bottle service. And lastly, at the far West end of 17th Ave, Lily Bistro opened its doors, and it serving up Asian-inspired tapas alongside their one-of-a-kind Bao bar.
