Why not skip out on busy highways and cold nights of camping for some exploration of your home city this May long weekend? Head down to 17th Ave, where you can catch Calgary’s home team in round two of the play offs at one of your favourite 17th Ave pubs, or stop into a new cocktail bar to sip on inventive bevvies with your friends. Looking for something a little more low key? There’s nothing like a long brunch with bottomless coffee and decadent eggs benny at your favourite 17th Ave brunch spot. Just because you’re staying in the city this weekend doesn’t mean you have to stay at home! Check out our list below for a handful of things you can check ourt this weekend on Calgary’s favourite street.
Watch the Calgary Flames
The Flames kicked off round two of their playoff run last night against cross-province rival, the Edmonton Oilers. This battle of Alberta will see these two teams duke it out over the next week to earn their chance to play in the Western Conference Finals, and maybe, the coveted Stanley Cup playoff game. It’s been more than 30 years since these two Alberta teams have seen each other in the playoffs, so it goes without saying that both Calgarians and Edmontonians alike are ecstatic to cheer on their respective teams. We know who we’re cheering for on 17th Ave, and we even have a few recommendations as to where you can catch a game!
