Sharing a new style of dining at 80th & Ivy

Jaime Mansour, Operations Leader

It’s always a treat to see the reminiscent smile sported by Jaime Mansour, Operations Leader of Group 933 as he tells the story of how 933 grew from one restaurant (Classic Jacks) to four (1410/1600 World Bier Haus, Roosevelt and 80th & Ivy) over the last 14 years.

Today we’re discussing 80th & Ivy Modern Kitchen. What is unique about it?

“First and foremost is the rotisserie… that visual in our open kitchen is something I don’t think you can find anywhere else on this avenue. Also that sharing dining culture… Sharing boards of appetizers AND entrees. It was great to see last week a group of 20 ladies order two of every sharing plate on the menu and really get into that style of dining. It’s a fun room that way. And of course the building and interior design—the water main that’s exposed in the dining room, and the new addition of the open keg cooler which is kind of neat to see.”

We also get a good giggle out of the fact that recent tenants of the same space included an adult video store and a costume shop. It has been quite the transformation for the space in just a year.

What’s in the near future for 80th?

“Our first jazz night is coming up, the chef’s table dinners, patio launch party and customer appreciation event in May… Considering some beer and cocktail pairing dinners… We’ve actually had some requests to have weddings here.” Exciting stuff!
