It’s Taco Time. From April 28 to May 7, the week long festival celebrating the glorious taco is back. YYC Taco Fiesta is taking over the city and this year proceeds are supporting Kids Up Front and the Calgary Homeless Foundation. With tons of restaurants on the Ave participating, support a good cause and try some muy delicioso tacos that won’t be around for long.
1410 World Bier Haus – Carnitas Elote Taco: tender and tangy marinated slow roasted pork tacos garnished with their deconstructed take on traditional Mexican street corn. Served with a side of mildly spicy yet perfectly flavourful Valentina hot sauce.
5s17 – Asian Duck Confit Tacos: classic french duck confit with an Asian twist; six tacos with Asian slaw and three different sauces.
Blanco Cantina – Fried Calamari Tacos: breaded calamari, romaine lettuce, pickled red onions, jalapeño ranch and cilantro.
Cilantro – Braised Bison Tacos: 3 tacos with braised CRMR bison, curtido, chipotle Aioli, tomatillo salsa, corn salsa on corn tortillas.
Heaven Artisan GF Cuisine – Vegan Cauliflower & Mango Tacos: vegan tacos made with seasoned roasted cauliflower on mango coleslaw topped with avocado-coconut crema.
Home and Away – Shrimp Salad Roll Tacos: sesame and coriander marinated Oceanwise shrimp, kimchi, marinated cucumbers, garlic aioli, vermicelli noodles and homemade peanut sauce.
Market – Duck Confit & Pulled Pork Taco: duck confit, BBQ pulled pork and tuna poke with spicy coleslaw, smoked onion salsa verde, MARKET Hot Sauce on corn or flour tortillas.
Roosevelt Food & Drink – Achiote and Lime Marinated Prawn Taco: smoked corn and black bean salsa, lime cumin creme fraiche, pickled jalapeños and shallots topped with achiote and lime marinated prawn.
Trolley 5 – Beer & Steer Taco: Derailed braised beef short rib on a bed of Jicama chimichurri slaw topped with salsa verde and manchego cheese in a locally made grilled tortilla, served with their chipotle sour cream or house hot sauce.
Tropical Latin Street Food – Chimichurri Steak Taco: grilled marinated sirloin steak, onions , cilantro and their homemade chimichurri sauce served on soft corn tortillas.
