Over the last several months, our 17th Ave BIA businesses and community have had to shift and adapt to the unprecedented circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The 17th Ave Retail & Entertainment District would like to thank our restaurants, retail and service businesses for their work in keeping Calgarians safe, and for persistently adapting to find new and unique ways to continue serving our community.

Our 17th Ave Retail & Entertainment District BIA is asking all BIA businesses, as well as Calgarians coming down to 17th Ave to follow all public health guidelines implemented by Alberta Health Services, including wearing a mask in public spaces, social distancing and staying home if you are ill.

Although many of our favourite 17th Ave businesses have been forced to close, limit their working hours or reduce their capacity, here are some of the ways you can still support them during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Take Advantage of Contactless Payment, Curbside Pickup and Delivery When Available

The 17th Ave BIA is encouraging the use of contactless payment when available, and to exercise the different curbside pickup, takeout and delivery options that many of our businesses are currently offering. Browse some of them here!

Check out What Businesses Are Offering Online or Virtually

Businesses have been forced to get very creative over the last year, with many retail shops now offering the majority of their product online, restaurants and food establishments providing numerous different online ordering options, and services offering different virtual options for appointments, classes and more. You can find some of the different virtual classes offered by 17th Ave gyms and studios here, as well as online options for our 17th Ave retailers, here.

Buy a Gift Card

Many local businesses have seen a major decrease in in-coming cash flow in recent months. Buying gift cards is a small but meaningful way you can support 17th Ave businesses  right now. And it’s something you can look forward to using once it’s safe to stop in again!

Engage with Businesses on Social Media

Not everyone has the option to contribute financially to their community right now. Luckily, there are other ways to support your local businesses.Open up your laptop or pick up your phone to give your favourite local business a shout out on social media or an exceptional review on google . So hit that share, regram or retweet button!
