An avenue fixture since 1989, Fiore (638 17 Ave SW) has long been a tried and true destination for pasta in the city. Step off the busy avenue and into a cantina where good food mixes with relaxation, and calming neutrals play with Ferrari red accents that dot the room.
Grab a glass of vino or a crisp pint, and settle in as you prepare to enjoy some long-awaited comfort food.
Famous for outstanding pasta specials, $10.99 lets you fill your boots (with pasta, that is) on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays, for both lunch and dinner. Choose your favourite from their extensive list of inspired pastas, and if you aren’t able to stop by on those days, fear not – Fiore still offers great value on all other days that end in “y”.
Their Lunchbox Special features a half order of pasta or a chef’s creation, with either soup or salad for just $12.95.
We decided to start indulging with the Bocconcini Pizza ($18), perfectly baked with bocconcini cheese and topped with fresh tomato and basil.
We couldn’t resist trying the Linguini Aglio & Olio ($18) featuring chicken, bacon, fresh spinach and tomato sautéed in an olive oil and garlic sauce, tossed with whole wheat linguini.
Though we were more than satisfied by our pizza and pasta selections, we were treated to a sweet sneak peek of the upcoming Valentine’s Day dessert feature: the Fiore Zabaglione: custard, ladyfingers in chocolate and fresh strawberries.
Still need to plan your classic, Lady and the Tramp-inspired Valentine’s evening? Fiore will be featuring live romantic entertainment Friday, February 13th through Sunday, February 15th along with a special 3 course menu.
