If the spring sunshine and warmer temps have you craving cervezas, salsa and flavourful fiestas, look no further than Los Chilitos Taco & Tequila House. An avenue staple for the last 6 years, Los Chilitos’ authentic Mexican cuisine is served just in right on its sunny patio or in the colourful and friendly atmosphere inside its doors.
We wandered over for a midday Mexican feast and were delighted to find affordable daily specials and awesome lunch features. And now that some version of tacos can be found on almost any menu, we were happy to sample the real deal – tacos as Mexico intended them: simple corn tortillas, grilled meats and loads of flavour.
A few traditional Mexican sodas ($2.95) got us started off right.
We settled on the Chilitos Tacos, Tuesday’s special at $12. Paired with house-made red and green salsas, you can choose your favourite fixing and go all in, or mix and match pork, beef, chicken and chorizo.
We couldn’t resist ordering authentic enchiladas ($16), and Los Chilitos stays true to this classic: topped with a choice of green tomatillo or ranchero salsa, enjoy the melted goodness of Monterey Jack cheese, sour cream, onion and cilantro, with sides of rice and beans.
The easy going and casual ambiance may leave you lingering long after you finish your meal, and the Los Chilitos family will make sure your experience is festive – even on a Tuesday.
