Located in the heart of 17th Ave, Alumni is a former Subway restaurant that has been expertly transformed by Sarah Ward Interiors into a modern sandwich joint. Emanating trendy diner-inspired vibes, complete with checkered flooring and classic diner bar stools, this is the perfect place to dive into a hearty sandwich.
Sandwiches for every mood
Alumni’s sandwich menu features classics like their turkey club, which is loaded with bacon, cucumber, avocado, tomato, and sandwich sauce on a crisp ciabatta. Another classic worth trying is the Reuben. This quintessential sandwich comes with smoked meat, kraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing on a white rye.
If you’re looking to change up your sandwich game and skip the meat-heavy options, try their veggie wrap. It’s filled with artichoke, kale, red pepper chutney, cucumber, tomato, radish, sprouts and feta packed into a tortilla.
So many eats
In the great sandwich debate about what qualifies as a sandwich, the burger is a highly contested contender. But at Alumni, we will just say it counts, because their Double Burger served with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and red onion on a brioche bun is not to be missed.
Alumni often rotates seasonal menu items back into play, and this summer, they’ve brought back the Kahuna Burger. It’s served with a 100 per cent ground chuck patty, grilled pineapple, Monterey jack cheese, bacon, teriyaki, cilantro aioli and jalapeno, all a top a brioche bun.
I’d like fries with that
In addition to Alumni’s exceptional menu of between bread options, they have a variety of snacks, sides, salads, soups and sweets to choose from.
The sandwiches may be hearty, but it’s hard to pass up their charred onion dip, served with house potato chips while you place your order. And what would a sandwich be without a side of parmesan fries or coleslaw.
Voted Best New and Best Casual Restaurant 2020 by Avenue, Alumni is your next must-try restaurant. Although they are not currently offering a dine-in option, sandwich lovers and foodies alike can still opt in for online ordering or curbside pickup to get their sandwich fix. Alumni is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
