Exit Escape Rooms

It’s no secret that 17th Ave is the top entertainment district in Calgary. It’s become routine to see bars and restaurants bustling with eager crowds looking to try the latest and greatest, but now there is a new attraction on the Ave and people can’t wait to escape.

Exit Calgary (60, 880 16 Ave S.W.) offers the latest in real-life gaming entertainment that is sweeping the country. With five different themed escape rooms featuring modern decor and up-to-date puzzles, Exit Calgary is the largest local escape room and is the only location in downtown Calgary.

Originally from Vancouver, owners Eddy and Denis developed a relationship with the owners of Exit Escape Rooms Canada and wanted to be a part of the new and amazing concept in entertainment. Knowing from the start that 17th Ave would be the best site for their new business, Eddy and Denis spent months scouting for the perfect location. Fortunately, a spot in the lower level of Mount Royal Village became available and they started building their biggest puzzle to date.

Exit Calgary truly caters to everyone from corporate team building events, birthday parties, after school activities, date nights or people who really love solving puzzles. Eddy and Denis believe that participating in their escape rooms will help improve communication and teamwork, while enhancing your bond, with friends, family, co-workers or even strangers.

Strangers have been teamed up with other strangers, escaped and bonded over the unique experience escape rooms bring.

Eddy and Denis claim that there isn’t one favourite room in Exit Calgary because each varies in terms of style and difficulty. If it is your first time playing, they suggest the Ninja House or Ancient Egypt room, which features a 25-30% escape rate. The Lost Ship is a staff favourite with a 15% escape rate, while Prison Escape grades at a 5% escape rate and may not have themes for the faint-of-heart. If you’re looking for a real challenge, try your luck at X17 Space Carrier, where no group has escaped within the 60 minute time frame yet.

Once you escape, stick around and check out Halo Tea, a fully stocked board game cafe nestled in the corner of the large lobby, where you can sip on a delicious smoothie and challenge a friend to a game of chess or “Guess Who?”. Exit Calgary hosts Board Game Olympics every last Wednesday of the month and make sure to stay tuned for an in-store Halloween special. Don’t forget to ask about their corporate packages for team building events and the 10% daily discount for students.

When Exit Calgary staff escape from work, they love to unwind at DAVIDsTEA or Analog Coffee for a change of atmosphere. They also enjoy chilling out at Trolley 5 with a cool craft beer and the beef brisket with a side of mac and cheese. The real gem is being located right across the street from Tomkins Park – whether summer or winter, it’s nice to take in a bit of nature in the heart of downtown.
