If you’ve read any of my previous style stories, you might already be aware that I’m crazy for Fall. Actually, let’s be a little bit more specific. I’m crazy for Fall Fashion! I love breaking out the layers, scarves, boots and whatever trends might be tantalizing my interest each Fall/Winter Season.
But before we welcome Fall completely, I want to put a little spotlight on the transition into Fall, when it’s still warm enough yet beginning to cool off. How do you take your summer into a more Fall appropriate look? Well, thanks to Purr and their amazing selection of pieces, I’ve been able to put together a few Summer to Fall looks that I’m very excited about, with one outerwear look that’s perfect for when Fall truly does arrive.
I had the lovely pleasure of having a great friend join me in my Purr Fall adventure, so much thanks to my amazing model, Jennifer Allyson, for not only looking amazing, but for making my job as a stylist and photographer an easy and fun one. Also, another huge thanks to the fantastic staff at Purr who welcomed us with open arms and were helpful and fun to hang out with.
And now the outfits! (All courtesy of Purr Clothing on 17th Avenue, except for model’s own shoes).
Outfit One: Denim Jacket and Layering
Layering is something that I do all year round, no matter what season, but Fall is certainly the best candidate. A multi-coloured knit cardigan can go a long way and is a great layering piece for most summer skirts and dresses. You can wear it loose, buttoned up or belted for a sleeker shape. I add a denim jacket to the look, which would work with so many other options and colour combinations as well.
And now, the skirt. The midi length has been popular for a few seasons, and it’s going to continue making an appearance this fall, which is why I chose this fantastic blue patterned option at Purr. The skirt can be worn now, or later, making it a great versatile piece that you can have much fun with.
The ankle boot is back for Fall and is a great shoe option to help you transition from warm weather into a more Fall look. That being said, I definitely recommend a bit of a heel to any shoe that you pick with the midi length, as it’s a bit of a trickier length to pull off.

Outfit Two: Black & White
Black & White is a huge trend right now, and I couldn’t love it any more! I love the 70s twist of a cool pattern, seen here on this fantastic Moon Collection Purr dress. This dress really shows us that there is so much you can do with black and white. It’s not only perfect right now, but these are great shades and patterns to take you into Fall.
A classic black blazer is the perfect over-piece, and if you don’t want it to be too simple, toss up your options with a more distinct cut and various lengths. I paired the dress and blazer with black leggings and wedges, although your shoe options are endless. A bold red lip seals the deal and makes this a stand-out look.

Outfit Three: Skinny Jeans
Black and white is so fantastic, I had to try it twice. A black skinny jean is something you can wear year round and with so many different options. If the skinny version isn’t for you, a different cut of denim can certainly work as well.
A peplum top is flattering and funky, and the striped version just makes it a little bit more fun. Play around with patterns and textures this fall. You can layer this look and make it Fall appropriate, and especially if you’re in a rock and roll mood, a leather bomber would be perfect. Once again, a pair of wedges or ankle boots would be great for this outfit option as well, or toss in a high heel to take you right into evening.

Outfit Four: Fall Topper
When it does get colder outside, there’s nothing sleeker and sexier than a lovely overcoat to go over whatever ensemble you choose to wear.
This season, bold, bright and over the top is extremely trendy for outerwear, but if you’d rather keep things more streamlined and simple, go with black and play with colour by accessorizing with a bold statement hat, gloves or scarf. The piping on the black jacket gives it amazing shape, and the rounded shoulders stay in line with the trends of the upcoming season.
A bright cobalt blue hat is perfect, and also in line with the colour trends for this fabulous upcoming Fall/Winter 2013 season!
