New to the Ave: Bamboo Ballroom

We couldn’t be more excited to welcome one of Calgary’s trendiest shops to the Ave, Bamboo Ballroom. Originally hailing from Edmonton, this fashion boutique recently bid their old home in Inglewood goodbye, as they set their sights on a larger, more bustling location in the heart of the city.

I have always loved this area for shopping and retail gems, plus there is always something going on. It’s exciting.

When asked why she chose the Ave to be Bamboo Ballroom’s new home, Founder and Owner Stacy Boruk’s answer was simple: the vibrancy. “I have always loved this area for shopping and retail gems plus there is always something going on, it’s exciting.” So when the opportunity came up to secure this space in Mount Royal Village, she jumped on it!

As you enter the new space, you’re instantly greeted by a stunning bright ambience that combines vintage, modern and industrial elements, giving the store eclectic character and chic charm. Unique highlights of the décor include copper piping that holds leather merchandise at the front of the store, luxurious blue felt that frames the archways of the fitting rooms, a vintage 70’s eyelet couch and a red Andy Warhol-inspired painting that ties the entire space together and makes it pop.

“I designed our new location with the help of the beautiful Jennifer Basset of Two x Two Studios,” explained Stacy. “It turned out so well and it’s honestly my dream space, I could not be more excited to see the doors open.”

It’s no secret that this shop is always on top of the latest trends, with beautifully curated pieces that the city’s fashion elite are constantly lusting over. “Our buying style is very unique and we definitely like to push the boundaries of fashion,” says Stacy. “That being said, shoppers of almost all ages can find something that suits their style.”

With a variety of statement pieces that will compliment your wardrobe, many of Bamboo’s brands are Canadian designers as it’s their mission to help support local brands since they opened 12 years ago. A few big-ticket names that you can expect to see in the store? For Love & Lemons, Brunette the Label, Gentle Fawn and Levis Originals to name a few.

The shop also features an array of vintage, mid-century, industrial décor, furniture and housewares from BEX Vintage, all adding to the unique charm of the space.

Looking for something fresh and budget-friendly? Dive into their year round SALE room and stumble upon some killer finds. Also, stay tuned for some exciting new labels and fall items that will be hitting the shop floor in the next couple of weeks!

Doors are officially open, but expect a Grand Opening Party sometime in September. Keep your eyes peeled on social media for more details and get your chic outfit prepared. “I love to throw a good party and this one will not disappoint,” says Stacy.
