Walk your fancy feet over to gravitypope’s stunning new location on 17th Ave – a shiny marble retail heaven that literally takes shopping to the next level. Steps up and down take you into shop neighbours Blackbyrd Myoozik and Sweet Lollapalooza, and the balcony gives you a bird’s eye view of the world’s biggest wish list.
After 15 years gravitypope outgrew their old avenue digs, setting up shop in their new Brutalist-inspired contemporary setting. Owner Louise Dirks shares that when the opportunity presented itself to expand on 17th Ave they “jumped at the chance” to continue to thrive in Calgary’s shopping and dining district.
“We wanted to remain a part of this dynamic community”
With new space means new goods – gravitypope now carries men and women’s apparel (ACNE, Alexander Wang and Rag and Bone — swoon), accessories and jewelry (Ariel de Pinto, Kathleen Whitaker and Pearls Before Swine) and apothecary treasures (Santa Maria Novella and Cire Trudon). Threads of elegance and eclecticism weave through this retail experience, with inspiration taken from 70s art, bold mirrors and beams of natural light.
And let us not forget why we love gravitypope in the first place. Their vast and carefully curated footwear selection highlights the best in boutique shoes and their sales crew are veritable shoe whisperers. A few of their favourites include Italian made Common Projects, Moma, Marsel, Officine Creative, and Spanish made Coclico – the selection here for men and women is endless, and exciting, to boot.
