Grinning Goat

It seems fitting that this 100% vegan boutique is named for Arwyn, the first goat to be rescued at the Alice Sanctuary, a permanent home for abandoned or abused farm animals located outside of Calgary, and the recipient of 1% of all Grinning Goat’s sales. Grinning Goat opened in 2017 to provide Calgarians with an ethical, Vegan shopping destination, and carries everything from men and women’s footwear to accessories, clothing to homeware goods and more.

Humainologie

As a social enterprise with the mission of spreading empathy, increasing inclusion and minimizing discriminication, every penny you spend at Humainologie goes back into the for-profit-work they do each day. Their downtown location, just off 17th Ave, is filled with products from local artists and makers, as well as items such as clothing and accessories that are consciously designed and ethically sourced.

The Coup

The Coup has become synonymous with vegetarian dining in Calgary, and is renowned for its mouthwatering vegetable-forward fare, and its strong emphasis on ethical dining. Their menu consists largely of seasonal, organic and locally sourced items, along with several made-from-scratch ingredients as well. These sustainable practices don’t end at their food menu – The Coup’s bar also features many local brewers and distillers, a selection of high-quality vegan, organic and biodynamic wines, as well as a cocktail menu highlighted by unique, local ingredients.

Salon True/ Salon True Bespoke

Rolanda Anderson founded Salon True after she discovered that her ongoing migraines and other health issues had come from 15+ years of exposure to different hair care and colouring products. After an extensive search for an organic yet effective product line made free of artificial fragrances, ammonia or harmful toxins, Rolanda was able to continue on with her passion for hair and beauty, while also providing a luxurious, organic beauty experience. As an extension of this organic beauty salon, Salon True Bespoke is their storefront where you can buy a number of different organic beauty products including hair care, skin care, men’s self care products and more. Salon True may be Calgary’s first organic salon, but it certainly won’t be the last.
