Street Style: Yadira Rose

When people are stand-outs, it usually goes beyond personal style. Yadira Rose is one of these people. Her energy, positivity and her great fashion sense all work together to create a really interesting individual that I think we would all be lucky to know. What I love most about Yadira’s style is her beautiful, bold hair and her obvious love of layers and colour. When I caught up to her on 17th, she was rocking some very unique accessories –  an amazing shawl she bought in India during one of her travel adventures and studded booties to complete the look.

How would you describe your personal style?
I have a wandering style, where I incorporate a little bit of this with a dash of that. Mostly, I wear gypsy-esque and pirate influenced clothes, in a multi-patterned assemblage, which I like to call Power Clashing.

What do you think is the most important part of putting together an outfit?
Question I ask myself before leaving: “Is this bizarre enough?”

What’s one thing in your closet you couldn’t part with?
My shawl. Its a handicraft of northern India made out of yak wool.

What current fashion and beauty trends are you most excited about and why?
I can’t say I follow trends, however, I am excited people are moving towards a more illuminating style (bindis, top knots, and flower power).

Anything you would never do when it comes to fashion?
I stay away from heavy eye make up. I prefer a more natural look on myself and women in general.

Something within fashion you can’t wait to try that you’re yet to do?
I’ve got these horrible black 90’s schoolgirl thick-heeled pumps that I am dying to pull out. Not entirely sure when or where.. but its going to happen!

Whats your favourite part of 17th Avenue as a whole?
I’d say I love the diverse people. I’m a huge people watcher, so I like sitting down and watching the flows.

What are some of your favourite spots on 17th and why? (coffee shop, bar, restaurant, clothing store).
Caffe Beano, for obvious reasons. There’s a beautiful little market where Divine used to be, under Bali & Beyond. Check it out!

What else would you like to see on 17th Avenue in the future?
How about fresh produce? I’d love a few shops that had affordable fresh fruits!
