My day on 17th would definitely start with a late morning almond milk latte at Caffe Beano. Beano is a staple of the avenue as well as a staple of my own social circle. Over Beano’s lattes and homemade granola bars, many major life decisions have been made.
Next would be a wander through Steeling Home. No matter the day, time or mood, Steeling Home is always good for a laugh, a gift or the perfect irreverent card.
Lunch or brunch on the avenue is not an easy decision. I’m often at Una Pizzeria (Kale salad), The Coup (Messy Janes) and Borgo (Baked Eggs). These days I’d say most often I’m at Cibo munching on their house made almonds and orrechiette.
Late afternoon means it’s time to shop. You’d be hard pressed to find a better store almost anywhere than Rubaiyat, especially around any holiday. I could get lost in their jewelry for hours and hours.
Next stop would be Primitive in Mount Royal Village, one of the avenue’s great boutique clothing stores. Their selection is always thoughtful and unique.
Winding down (or gearing up) for the night is always fun at Ox and Angela. Nothing can wrong over a table full of tapas and a great glass of wine. You can stay at Ox until nice and late, either winding down from a busy day or gearing up for a night filled with Shafts at the Living Room or tequila shots at Los Chilitos.
