Canada 150 Round Up


July 1st marks a historic year for Canada as it turns 150! Band together with friends old and new to celebrate this historic event right here on 17th Ave. We’ve rounded up some great ways to show your patriotism – check them out and plan to make a few of these events part of your Canada 150!

Tropical – Start your weekend off right with a killer Latin party at Tropical on Friday night. Enjoy happy hour from 4-7 pm and sip on $5 cocktails, and chow down on $2.50 tacos & 1/2 price nachos. Then stick around for their live DJ who hits the decks after 9 pm. Get in free before 10pm to feel the Latin heat.

1410 World Bier Haus – If you are planning on throwing a killer Canada Day Party, why not let Village Brewery supply the brews? Stop in for a pint at 1410 and enter to win a 150 Village Variety Pack. The winner will be drawn at the Rooftop Party, June 30th, with a special guest performing!

Morgan’s Pub – With a mix of country, rap, rock, pop/punk and rockabilly, the Great Canadian Hangover event at Morgan’s Pub has something for everyone! Music starts at 2pm on the patio then moves inside for the heavy stuff. Check out bands like Ten Dead Crows, Jab and The Matadors and party hard for Canada’s 150th! Free up until 7:30pm then $15 kicks in. Get there early, this is guaranteed to sell out fast.

Home & Away – You’ve been challenged to a street hockey game! Kicking off on Canada’s 150th, join Home & Away in their parking lot for a Street Hockey Tournament for the ages. It’ll be a weekend full of fun and friendly competition, music & beer. You in? Register here.

Jamesons Irish Pub – Party like the Irish this Canada Day and swill back half price drinks all day at Jamesons! They’ll be giving away tickets to Country Thunder so get there early because the first 150 people in after 5pm are entered to win (draw at 8pm). Then party to the tunes of DJ Gordon Edwards as he hits the decks at 5pm.

Las Canarias – Dance the night away at Las Canarias to celebrate Canada’s 150th. Enjoy a mix of the best Latin tunes from DJ Henry Latinsound from 10pm – 2am and food & drink specials all night. No cover for this one! Call for reservations: 403.475.4165 and be sure to dress to impress.

Lounge XVIII – Canada’s 150th is just around the corner and Lounge XVII wants to celebrate with you at their Red & White Bash! Wear your best red and white outfit and head down for half price cocktails, appetizers and water pipes from 2-6pm then stay for the tunes. DJ Young Hollywood starts the evening right to get you up and ready to party followed up by more hot tunes by CJ Valencia 10pm till late. Oh Canada!

Rubaiyat – On June 30th, celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday at Rubaiyat as they host a Pyrrha Trunk Show from 11am – 5pm. This event includes a special guest appearance by amazing Canadian designers, Danielle and Wade of Pyrrha Jewelry, who’ll be there from 3pm-5pm.

Una Pizza & Wine – To celebrate Canada’s 150th, Una Pizza & Wine is offering one heck of a deal. All you have to do is purchase a $150 Gift Card and in return, you’ll get a free $150 Gift Card! Now that’s what we call being nice! This offer, valid on July 1st only.

National on 17th – This year for Canada Day, National on 17th is bringing the mountains to you. Local 510 – A Canada Day Eve celebration! Your favorite Can-Con hits played by your favorite Cal-Con hosers. July 1st only comes once a year and Local 510 can’t think of a better way to celebrate Canada’s Birthday than heading down for an afternoon of drinking in the sun while your favorite hungover and under-rehearsed musicians kick out the Can-Con Cacophony that is Solid Gold Beaver.
