Celebrate Calgary Pride Week on 17th Ave 2020

Calgary Pride Week, Reimagined!

Calgary Pride will be celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, but with the safety and well-being of all Calgarians in mind, this Calgary Pride Week festival has been reimagined.

Although this year will look a little different from festival’s held in the past, Calgary Pride will still be holding a celebration of community, resiliency and love. Members of the public will be able to engage through various online activations including performances from LGBTQ2S+ artists, workshops, interviews, and community newscasts. All content will be free of charge and available on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Twitch, and hosted during the weeks leading up to and throughout pride week, which is August 28th to September 6th.

Celebrate Virtually!

Similar to years past, Calgary Pride is encouraging both businesses and the public to participate in the spirit of Pride.  Donations to Calgary Pride are always appreciated, along with participation in different #OurPride initiatives and activations. And this year, it’s easier than ever to participate with Calgary Pride’s plethora of online content, which promotes learning, education and understanding around LGBTQ2S+ related topics and issues.

17th Ave Businesses have participated in Calgary Pride in the past in a number of different ways. Visitors of 17th Ave were able to celebrate pride through pride-themed fitness classes, or events featuring both local and renowned LGBTQ2S+ artists and drag stars. Restaurants and breweries featured specialty drink and menu items with money going to Calgary Pride or other organizations supporting LGBTQ2S+ initiatives. Retailers and Services also offered different activations, giveaways and discounts during Pride week.
