This month, our 17th Ave. Street Style Huntress, Aldona B., is all about the menswear. Catch up with Aldona as she talks style & substance with a fashionable fella fresh from a trip to the Windy City.
Aldona B.: “I’m a huge fan of menswear right now. With so much selection of styles for dudes to choose from today, it’s hard to argue the idea that guys have limited options in the wardrobe department. When you have a flair for fashion – or at least an interest in clothing and experimenting with style – your wardrobe can be cool, distinct and full of panache.
Warren LePrieur is one of those guys who certainly isn’t afraid of fashion and trying out new things. Here he plays with colour, texture and silhouettes; notice his elastic tapered pants and funky blue kicks.
As for his inspiration? A recent trip to Chicago meant the chance to visit some of his favourite shops, including G-Star, and the opportunity to show off his newly-bought duds. LePrieur is excited to continue his never-ending quest to find amazing menswear, whether he’s here at home on 17th Avenue, or traveling to places far and wide.”
How would you describe your personal style?
“I’m a Modern-vintage kind of guy.”
What do you think is the most important part of putting together an outfit?
“Having a good focal point to work around – whether it’s a great shirt with a lot of visual interest, or a wicked pair of pants.”
What’s the one thing in your closet you won’t ever part with?
“My new Campers. I’m definitely going to get me another pair soon, but in a different colour.”
What are some of your favourite spots on 17th and why?
“Caffe Beano is definitely a fave of mine; I always grab a coffee there when I’m on 17th Avenue. I’m also really into shoes, so I quite like checking out Gravity Pope for new stock.”
What’s your favourite drink and from where?
“Definitely the Americanos from Caffe Beano. So good.”
What else would you like to see on 17th Avenue in the future?
“I love G-Star Raw, so either a G-star clothing store or a Camper shoe store. Maybe both!”
