Project update – September
Starting Sunday, September 29 road top-lift paving will take place on 17 Avenue SW, from 2 St to 8 St SW. Sections of 17 Avenue will be closed in four stages. Where possible, paving work has been scheduled in off-peak hours, for short periods of time, to minimize disruption.
Paving preparations: Saturday September 28, 05:00 – 16:00. Road milling from 2 St SW to 8 St SW (traffic impacts at various locations)
Stage 1: Sunday September 29, 05:00 – 20:00. Paving West of 2 St SW to east of 5 St SW (4 St SW fully closed)
Stage 2: Monday September 30, 05:00 – 20:00. Paving east of 5 St SW to east of College Lane (5A St SW – to/from south, and 6 St SW to/from north, fully closed)
Stage 3: Tuesday October 1, 05:00 – 15:00. Paving east of College Lane to east of 8 St SW (7 St SW fully closed)
Stage 4: Friday October 4 @ 21:00 – Saturday October 5 @ 06:00. Paving intersection of 17 Ave SW / 8 St SW.
Background
As part of the final phase of the 17 Avenue S.W. Reconstruction Project, The City has been completing sidewalk and streetscape improvements along 17 Avenue SW, from 2 Street to 14 Street SW. This year’s work began in April 2024.
All sidewalk reconstruction work, tree box replacements, and electrical improvements will be completed by mid-October 2024.
Alternative Parking
There are hundreds of parking spots within the 17th Ave area. We encourage you to give yourself a few extra minutes when coming down here during construction.
