The combination of this Calgary winter and current lockdown really has us missing the bustling patio and energetic buzz of 17th Ave’s self-proclaimed “divery,” One Night Stan’s. If you haven’t already frequented this downtown staple on a pre-COVID Friday evening, then expect a laid back but lively atmosphere, with an impeccable happy hour and tons of tasty bar food. Not to mention their patio is dog friendly. Enough said, right?
Cocktails and Local Brews
Once it’s safe to throw back a beer or two with your friends, One Night Stan’s has all the ingredients to make for an epic post-quarantine night out. Stan’s bar menu is loaded with local brews, and signature cocktails, which are a sure-fire way to get your night going. Options include classic fav’s like a good Old-Fashioned made with whiskey or bourbon, and featuring Stan’s bitters with a citrus twist. Or you could opt for something a little more tropical and dive into an OG Marg, served with rooster rojo tequila, ancho reyes, fresh squeezed lime juice and agave. There’s a lot of really tempting options, so you’ll probably want to try more than one.
Bar Snacks and Shareables
What good is a round of drinks if it isn’t followed by a few tasty appetizers, bar snacks or comfort food to round out your night? Stan’s offers tons of different bar snacks and shareables, with perennial favourites like chili cheese fries, mini corn dogs and popcorn chicken. When you need something a little more substantial, you can also order from their selection of burgers, sandies and wraps, all of which are served on a fresh, soft egg bun, with a choice of side.
We may not be able to enjoy a round of happy hour drinks at this 17th Ave favourite right now, but One Night Stan’s will be one of our first post-quarantine stops.
