This month, our 17th Ave. Street Style Huntress, Aldona B., is all about casual wear. Catch up with Aldona as she talks style & substance with one of the most photogenic people she’s ever met.
Aldona B.: “Distance Bullock has serious swagger and he’s got to be one of the most photogenic people I’ve ever met – it’s like he was born to be in front of the camera. I guess it helps that he also has a personal style that’s cool and laid back, adorned and speckled with tattoos starting at his head and throat.
Here he wears slim cut jeans and a leather jacket, layered over a simple white t-shirt and black hoodie. As I discovered, that’s all he really needs to showcase who he really is.”
How would you describe your personal style? What stands out to you when you notice someone else’s personal style?
“I’ve always felt that personal style is reflected more through personality and how someone carries themselves, as opposed to what they wear. No specific clothing or accessory stand out to me when I take notice of someone’s style, necessarily. I draw influence from people that present themselves with confidence and when I can tell that they are comfortable with themselves and what they wear.”
What do you think is the most important part of putting together an outfit?
“Comfort and simplicity.”
What one thing in your closet could you never part with?
“My wardrobe changes so consistently and I have essentially been living out of a suitcase for as long as I can remember. I always keep a decent collection of light-weight coats though.”
What do you like to see on 17th Avenue?
“I love to see all the local artists.”
What are some of your favourite spots on 17th and why?
“Local 510, Dick & Janes, Analog Cafe and Olympic Billiards. All amazing and eccentric locations in their own respect.”
What’s your favourite drink and from where?
“A classic Americano from Analog Cafe.”
