In the flurry of spring openings on the avenue this month, be sure you don’t miss out on the latest bird to land on 17th. Brought to you by the minds behind Model Milk and PDR, Pigeonhole (306 17th Ave S.W.) has officially opened its doors. Designed as a true snack and wine bar, you can expect small plates, a comfortably stylish atmosphere and a unique wine list – with almost all bottles being minimum certified organic, something new to Calgary’s restaurant scene.
“The idea for this restaurant started when our chef, Justin Leboe and the other partners were riding around in a cab in London.” explains General Manager Heather Wighton. “They wanted to create a place that moved away from a specific concept, where they could experiment with all kinds of cuisines and ingredients, not pigeonholing themselves into one particular thing.” A short time later, the partners returned to Calgary and began to make quick work of realizing their vision.
With dinnerware sourced from flea markets, a cozy patio and an ever-changing menu, Pigeonhole promises to keep us coming back for more.
