Immaculate Concept

Immaculate Concept Tattoo (520 17th Ave SW) has left a permanent mark on the avenue. Opened in 1996, this fully custom tattoo studio houses 12 full-time tattoo artists and offers body piercing by Miza Rondic (an IC resident for 19 years). Like the tattoos they create, Immaculate Concept is built to last with a foundation of wicked creativity, personality and charm.

photo-4No need to be wary of walking up their steps. At Immaculate Concept, there is a receptionist waiting to welcome you and ready to guide you through which artist is best for the job you have in mind. The artists here strive to make each tattoo completely custom and unique, and the walls are covered with art and inspiration to get the mind wandering.

With 12 different artists under one roof, Immaculate Concept boasts 12 entirely separate styles by a very talented group. The two-level shop fills with afternoon sunlight and becomes a maze of friendly faces with a backdrop of buzzing, easing nerves thanks to stellar, experienced staff.

Artist Kris Chisholm

Founder of the Alberta Bound Tattoo and Arts Festival and owner of IC, Steve Peace takes pride in his shop’s commitment to quality, advising us that “bargain hunting on tattoo work usually ends up costing a person a lot more in the end.” The best tattoos he’s seen come from all over the world, thanks to an ever-growing presence of tattoo work through social media. He says this new online world “has really set a new bar for talent as everything is happening in real time, showing what is possible and popular in tattoo trends.”

The crew at Immaculate Concept are self-proclaimed tattoo obsessed, and work day in and out at perfecting their unique and custom work. But when the day is done, the choice is simple – either a right hand turn to the Ship and Anchor or a left one to Local 510.

From pin-up, to grey wash, whimsical or tribal – Immaculate Concept will leave you permanently inked and itching for more.
